STP or Stone Temple Pilots is an American rock band who had their first debut album Core way back from 1992 but they have been active on the rock scene since 1986. Their genre is a within alternative rock, hard rock, grunge, and their latest album released early 2010 was more like country songs delivered as rock songs, as said by Dean DeLeo, (guitar) from an interview at 93.3 MMRBQ 2010. To him it has that bit of a country feel to it, unlike their previous songs. And they are not just some old timer rock bands who should just call it quit. The band has had 16 top ten singles on the Billboard rock charts, eight of which peaked at #1, and Purple became the #1 album in 1994. On that same year, they won the Grammy Awards as the “Best Hardcore Performance” for the song “Plush”. They are ranked #40 on VH1’s the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.

The band members are: Scott Weiland (lead vocals), Robert DeLeo (bass guitar, vocals) and his brother Dean DeLeo (guitar), and Erik Kretz (drums, percussion).

Dean DeLeo was interviewed by 93.3 WMMR’s radio disc jockey, Pierre Robert on the backstage during the MMRBQ 2010 event. Quoted from Scott Weiland himself, Pierre said that in their latest album, Scott was more into storytelling now than relating to personal drama. Dean Deleo agreed that the songs they came with now are more about storytelling. The artwork on the album was made by an excellent artist, Shepard Fairey. The artwork was titled Peace Finger Red. Their album has a deluxe version which was released later that year, and the difference between the two albums is that the deluxe version includes few tracks that have been lying around because of the recession, bonus tracks and live tracks. Dean added that their album cover is described as a new beginning but to him, it is more like just ongoing.
